Not Flipping Sites, Building Passive Income
So beings it seems lately that everybody is getting into flipping a website I decided to do it a little bit differently. Most of you know Garry Conn and that he builds niche websites and makes a shitload of money from them using AdSense. In fact, Garry actually told me how much he made in August and it was a very nice chunk of change.
However, instead of spending 8 hours building a site and setting it live and then trying to sell it I have decided to build the site but keep it. Why? Because as stated in the title of this post….it is going to turn into passive income. Sure, I may not get money right away unless I hit the jackpot with a niche to where I end up churning out $100 a day or more but I will eventually make more money keeping the site compared to selling it. Your situation may be different in that you need money right away and would rather build another site and try to sell that. Having the money right away would be nice but there is the potential to make a whole lot more money if you are willing to keep the site.
I decided to look for a niche last night so I fired up Micro Niche Finder. For those of you that aren’t aware it is just a keyword discovery tool. After about 5 minutes, I got lucky and found a great little niche. I fired up my trial of Market Samurai just to check out the competition real quick instead of searching through Google manually. Everything looked good and that was the point that I decided to get my tools and start building. Headed on over to GoDaddy and was lucky enough to find the domain for my main keyword available, snatched it up and spent the next 10 mins installing and configuring WordPress. While the database for the site was being setup I searched Google real quick and grabbed some pictures.
After the theme was up I started searching the net for information since I don’t know anything about the niche that I chose, lol. It was quite easy actually finding information and in 3 hours I had 5 posts ready to go. Spent a little bit more time grabbing some more pictures and finalizing everything and set the site live. Found a few blogs to comment on, emailed a few site owners for link exchanges and headed to bed. Got up this morning, submitted the site to Digg and noticed that the AdSense ads on the homepage were displaying default ads not related to my site. Crap!
Shot a quick email over to the all knowing Garry Conn and begged him for the answer to my problem. He was too busy to talk to me apparently because instead he told me to add David Cooley over at http://www.cybercoded.net to my GTalk list because he wanted to talk to me. So I did as I was told and wow am I glad I did. This guy knows his shit when it comes to AdSense. In fact, him and Garry are both really good friends. So anyways after talking (ok him telling me where I screwed up) I heeded his advice and reworked a few things on the site to maximize the earning potential. Luckily enough it wasn’t any major changes so I got it all sorted out in about 30 minutes.
So now the site is ready to go and all that is left now is to submit it to StumbleUpon (maybe) to get some traffic to it and then see what happens. I should be able to hit top 5 in Google with the site for my main keyword rather easily especially after I build up a few links to it. So……instead of flipping sites I think I am just going to be building them and profiting from them. If I could keep up with the pace that I built this site with I could turn out a good number of sites per week. And I will probably end up doing that but I need to see how this site works out first and whether or not it will turn into a money maker.
That is what I have been up to for the past 24 hours, I know that Elijah is busy working on a few more niche sites so it should be interesting to see what he comes up with again.
