My Very First PPC Experience
Ok, first off, sorry for the lack of posts lately but I have been very busy over the past week and have had a lot of things to take care of. I do have some good news though! After talking with another affiliate marketer who uses PPC as a form of making money online, I’ve decided to try out my luck with PPC as well.
I’ve decided to use a network called RegNow. RegNow is great because they deal with software only so you don’t have to worry about dealing with physical inventory. No worries, they have a lot of products in their network so there is no shortage of things to promote and make money with. I decided to target a product that has more then one vendor for that product. This is so that I can promote different vendors on my site in the hopes that I can make more money by offering more options.
After selecting my product “niche” I started working on the mini-site. I decided to create a mini-site because lately I’ve been reading that landing pages are the way to go instead of direct linking. So I decided to take it a little bit further and develop more then just a landing page. Mostly because I am going to need more then just a landing page anyways because I plan to offer more then one product. I think I will end up adding 2 more products to the site after I see how the site works out with just one on it.
Like my title suggests, it is my first time ever with PPC. I’ve decided to use Yahoo! as I’ve heard that they can be a little bit cheaper then Google because Google is so big that bid prices tend to be a bit higher. And Yahoo! is still big enough that you don’t have to worry about not getting any impressions or traffic. I spent a little bit of time last night setting up my Yahoo! Sponsored Search account and created 2 ads myself. Thats when I saw a button for their Ad Generator tool. This tool is really useful as it allows you to come up with 3 different titles for your ads and 5 different short descriptions. Then you just add in your display URL and your destination URL and generate the ads. Yahoo! takes the titles and descriptions and mashes them together into quite a few different combinations. If you have your account set up for optimized ads, the ad generator will display certain ads, track their performance for you and display the best performing ones.
Not too bad of a tool really. So I will keep a very watchful eye on the ad performances and see what Yahoo! does. I am hoping that I can get at least some clicks and then hopefully convert those clicks into sales. After creating my mini-site, I showed it to my friend who I was talking about in the beginning of this post. He said that it turned out quite well which I was glad to hear. He has also told me that with the way that I go about doing things, that I should turn out successful in my quest to making a living online.
So now I just sit back and will let Yahoo! do its thing. My ads had to be reviewed before they could be shown and after checking their status this morning it shows that they were approved. So now I am just waiting for them to get some impressions and hopefully some clicks. I will be posting more about this as it goes along and hopefully the posts will be positive and about me making money instead of losing it ;)
