Motive Interactive: Advent 2.0 Review

This is a paid review for Motive Interactive, a performance based CPA affiliate network

I myself personally have not used Motive Interactive but I have been hearing about them quite a bit over the past few weeks. It seems lately that they have just went through an upgrade and are proud to introduce Advent 2.0, their newest custom, easy to use interface.

Introduction

Motive’s Advent 2.0 serves 2 critical functions when it comes to advertising online; a publisher centric advertising network as well as a direct lead generation network. Advent was developed by industry experts who have had years of experience building high volume performance advertising and lead gen networks. Everything that should be included in a tracking system and advertising network have been added into Advent 2.0 making it stand out far above the rest.

Custom Interface vs. Pre-configured Script

A lot of the major advertising networks nowadays use pre-built scripts that were created by programmers that offer little customization. One of the largest and widely used scripts is DirectTrack. There is nothing wrong with using a script as it allows companies to focus on other aspects of their network. Some of the advantages to using a script are that they usually offer support when it is needed, can be cheaper than having a system designed in house and certain scripts are setup to interact with each other.

DirectTrack for example allows advertising networks to share offers between them. It can also make things a little bit easier for affiliates as if they are used to using one network, when they switch to another using the same script they will know exactly what to do. They don’t have to play a guessing game or bug their managers for help with mundane tasks. However, I believe that a custom system is a far better choice as it allows the network to always stay on top of things and adapt to the ever changing online world. The network can have things developed exactly how they want them too and don’t have to worry about it not working for somebody else.

The bad things being that it usually can’t integrate with other networks and affiliates have to learn to navigate a new user interface.

User Interface

Advent 2.0 was designed with the user experience in mind. Upon logging in to the network you are presented with a clean layout that is easy to navigate while giving you plenty of important information at the same time. The main screen provides you with a 3 column setup; navigation on the left hand side, an offer spotlight and system notices column in the middle and the dashboard on the right hand side.

The Offer Spotlight section highlights 6 current offers along with their payout and what type of offer it is (CPL/CPA/CPS). Below that is the System Notices section where updates on your offers that you are currently promoting are listed. Always something nice to have should something come up with an offer, being able to see the changes right away when you log in can really help.

The Dashboard section provides a large graph of your total performance for all offers along with a list of metrics such as clicks, conversions, leads rejected, total leads, total revenue, eCPC and a few others. From the dashboard you can select to view campaign performance by month while also viewing single campaign information such as the payout of the offer along with the revenue that you have made so far.

My only gripe would be to have the offers that are listed under the Campaign Watch menu to be linked to their actual pages.

Searching For Offers

Searching for offers is quite easy and you are given a lot of variables to choose from that allow you to filter out certain offers. You can search CPA, CPL, CPS, CPS%, banner, POP, incentivized, by category, offer id, payout and more. Advent uses AJAX to load the search results as soon as you make changes giving you information almost instantly without having to click a search button.

The filtered search results are laid out in a table that give you information about the offer ID, name, the ways it can be promoted, the category of the offer, the payout, what type it is (CPA/CPS/CPL) and buttons to preview the landing page and creatives.

Reports: Numbers Don’t Lie

The reports section is actually quite nice and even the default options give you a great overview of your account. Once again, Motive Interactive gives you plenty of filters to sort out your data to give you the exact information that you want.

The default screen shows statistics such as revenue, impressions, clicks, conversions, average payout, eCPC, eCPM and a whole bunch of other stuff. Once again you get reporting on your overall campaign as well as statistics on each campaign. The filters let you sort by this month, today, yesterday, last week, this week, last month, this year, last year, the status of the offer, an exact date range and the type offer. You could almost end up spending more time trying to figure which data you want to look at rather then actually looking at the reports.

Information About Your Current Offers

Sticking to the 3 column layout once again, the middle column provides a list of your offers that you are currently running and also giving you filters once again that automatically refresh when you select different options. The right hand side of the screen gives you all the information about the current offer that you have selected. The name of the offer is easy to read along with the current payout. Below that you are given a quick description, the type of media that you can use to promote the offer as well as any qualifications that the advertiser has set.

You are also provided with the tracking link for the offer yet I could not find anyway to provide a subid to the link. I’m sure that most affiliates could figure out how to setup the subid themselves, but for somebody knew to affiliate marketing could have problems. Considering they are using a custom setup, they most likely have their own custom variable that they use. They should have at least provided a small description as to how to setup a subid. I myself don’t even have any idea how I would go about adding one to the link.

Make Money By Referring Others

Like most advertising networks, Motive finally introduced a referral program allowing you to make an industry leading 5.5% commission from each publisher that you refer. MarketLeverage currently had the industry’s highest payout at 5%. Motive requires that all publishers that you refer continue to make commissions for a continuous 12 months in order to receive the 5.5% commission yourself.

Currently, reporting for referrals is only available monthly as their system is still new. However, I was told that within a few weeks daily and weekly reports will be integrated into all accounts.

Performance Incentives

Motive wants you to make money and in order to encourage you even further to make as much as you can they offer a rewards system. Payouts start at 1% and reach 2% as you continue up the ladder.

Commissions / Reward

  • $1000 / $10
  • $2500 / $25
  • $5000 / $50
  • $10000 / $100
  • $15000 / $150
  • $20000 / $200
  • $25000 / $250
  • $30000 / $300
  • $50000 / $500
  • $100000 / $1250
  • $150000 / $2000
  • $200000 / $3000
  • $500000 / $10000
  • $1000000 / $20000
  • $1250000 / $25000

Rewards are paid each month based upon the previous month’s commissions. So if you made $5000 last month you would receive $50 this month.

My Thoughts

I have tried out a few different affiliate networks such as MarketLeverage, NeverBlueAds, AzoogleAds, CJ.com as well as a few others. I have to say that I am quite impressed with Motive’s Advent 2.0 and think that they did an amazing job on their custom system.

I have mostly used MarketLeverage which uses the DirectTrack script. I really like the way Advent 2.0 is setup and how easy it is to get access to the information that I want. While it only takes 1 more click to get access to my campaign stats on MarketLeverage, Advent is far easier to read and a lot cleaner.

Even when comparing against NeverBlueAds and AzoogleAds, Advent seems to just work better for me. I find it much easier to navigate and the information that I am looking for is prominently displayed right where I would expect it to be. The upper right hand side of the screen provides an area with information about your affiliate manager giving you a phone number, email link and an option for live chat.

As of right now, Motive only has 30 offers up but I was told that they will quickly be introducing a lot more offers over the past few weeks. Which is understandable, I’m sure that they want to make sure that their custom system is working properly and can handle the load before dumping all the offers into it and something going wrong.

Motive Interactive also provided a movie as well with the review which gives you an overview of Advent 2.0 which you can watch below.
