Google Chrome Tips and Tricks

As you may know, Google released their own browser Chrome to compete against Firefox and Internet Explorer. Chrome was a huge hit and has quickly been gaining market share, surpassing Safari and Opera. Chrome was designed on top of a new Javascript engine making long page load times a thing of the past. The very minimal look and simple layout make it easy for you to navigate the web without having to have 10 toolbars to get things done.

Google implemented some neat little tips and tricks with Chrome, so I’m putting together a list of all the easter eggs that I can find.

View Source Of Any Site – Type view-source:www.example.com in the address bar to instantly view the source code for that webpage

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Ctrl+W – Closes current tab
  • Ctrl+E – Search with default search engine
  • Ctrl+R – Reloads the page
  • Ctrl+T – Opens new tab
  • Ctrl+U – Opens source code of page in a new tab – Same as view-source:
  • Ctrl+0 – Open a file
  • Ctrl+P – Prints the page
  • Ctrl+D – Adds current tab to bookmark
  • Ctrl+F – Find text phrase on the page
  • Ctrl+H – Opens History page
  • Ctrl+J – Opens download tab
  • Ctrl+L – Highlights current URL
  • Ctrl+B – Toggles bookmarks toolbar
  • Ctrl+N – Opens a new chrome window
